HOW TO USE
48 hours before coloring, do the allergy test.
Step 1: Apply the product using the applicator, press the color mixture immediately onto dry, unwashed hair. Gently work into the hair as you would shampoo, and apply to the grey areas first.
Step 2: For hair with little or no grey, wait 25 minutes with the mixture in your hair. For grey hair, leave on for an additional 15-20 minutes.
Step 3: Rinse. Add a small amount of warm water to your hair and lather. Then rinse with warm water until the water runs clear.
Step 4: Apply the Shine Protection Conditioner and massage into the hair. Leave on for 2 minutes before rinsing with warm water until the water runs clear.

I use preference 10NB.. I cannot tell if you make it anymore.. And if the formula is changed, there is no reason for me to continue using it because ... you don't make it anymore.

Inferior Product

I have always been a big fan of Superior Preference by L’Oréal. I used the shade 111 very light beige blonde for well over 15 years. I always received compliments and many believed it was my natural colour ( including professional colourists) When it was discontinued, I consulted L’Oréal and was told to mix 10 and 19 to achieve ( half of each) similar results. The results have not been similar, at all. Very ashy and too dark. I’d also like to add that the new formula was very hard on my scalp. I have never had problems with the old formula. Also, I find that the colour has faded almost on a daily basis. I never had this problem with the old formula.This was not a cheap fix for me. I had to purchase two boxes of colour and now the rest will be disposed of because it is not a suitable product. I would not recommend purchasing Superior Preference.

Do not use colour # 17 dark ash blonde

I purchased two boxes of L'Oreal Superior Preference colour 17 ( dark ash blonde) in October 2025 at Walmart for my mother. In October I applied the colour. To my surprise the colour came out with a purple tinge. At first I though maybe we left the dye too long before washing her hair. I coloured her hair again a few days ago and the same thing happened. The colour came out with a purple tinge. I believe there is something wrong the the lot #70Z506. Do not use this product.

Great brand, defective colour?

I bought this 2 weeks ago, and it is already fading from my natural light blonde hair. I use this brand exclusively and used the red in the summer and no issues. I wanted a change for winter but didn't get what I expected. . disappointed.

#50 Santorini natural brown

The "new and improved" #50 Brown is different shade as the original # 50 Santorini natural brown.
The " new and improved" looks like a boring, light brown (??). Not really brown...hmm?.. maybe "pumpkin brown" ?
How can I get the same shade as the original #50 Santorini brown"? It was a very nice rich brown.
Should I keep the dye on my hair longer? Unfortunately, I have 3 boxes of " new and improved' :(

Do not use medium ash brown!

I have always used ash brown colors because of having a slight red undertone to my hair. My regular hair dye changed formula so I gave this one a try...boy was that a mistake!
I colored my hair like normal- yes my mistake not doing a test first. But my hair came out BLACK with red. I broke down in tears!!
This color went waaaaay to dark on my light brown hair. Plus the fact that it had red undertone is brutal! This is supposed to be an ash color and its anything but!
Do not use this color if you actually like your hair!

Brasilia a changé de couleur

La couleur Brasilia (Superior Preference 3 Dark Brown) a changé. Elle n'est plus la même couleur qu'avant, plus pâle et roux plutôt qu'un brun neutre. De plus, la texture est bizarre, plus moussante. Étrange. Bref, je suis déçue. Il manque une couleur entre Dark Brown et la série de noir, faudrait la créer.

Loréal Preference 36 formula change is a disaster

I have been using L'Oréal Preference #36 for years and really liked the rich, light brown color. I used the new version of the product for the first time yesterday and the result is a disaster - the roots of my hair are now a bright reddish/orange color and the rest of my hair looks orangey blonde - the color hardly changed and no sign of the warm brown except for some of the hair at the nape of my neck. Reading through the product reviews, I am not the only one with this issue with color 36. The formula change has produced disastrous results.

I used the L'Oréal Permanent Hair Dye in 665 Medium Red Brown on my naturally black hair, and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. The color showed up well, giving my hair a rich reddish-brown tone that looks vibrant in the light. The formula didn’t damage my hair and left it feeling soft and shiny. It took a bit longer to develop on my dark hair, and the red tones faded slightly after a few washes, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Amazing color!

This was my first time trying this brand of store bought hair dye and I have to say I am pretty impressed! It covered all my whites! Just overall really liked this color and how my hair felt afterwards it was soft and couldn't tell it was just dyed.

Say good bye to ur gray hairs

I tried the light reddish blond was a little worried as I don't really like red in my blond hair but it just made it have a light red color looked really nice. But u need to have really light hair for it to work.
I found that my hair was so nice and soft after and got rid of all my gray as most hair dyes don't get rid of them all. This sure did. I like the oil it comes with gives ur hair a great shine. And love that it comes with conditioner for later on.
Felt no burning like I do very often. Very lovely hair dye. Definitely using this brand next time.

I’m naturally a brunette, and this shade gave my hair such a pretty, warm boost. It added a nice red tone without being too bold—just rich and glowy, especially in sunlight. Superb quality. This stuff is so easy to use and the color was beautiful and vibrant. I do have longer hair and wish they made an XL bottle. Next time I would definitely need 2 bottles for complete coverage. Hid my popping greys for now too.

Nice Colour and easy application

Beautiful results with the L’Oreal light redish blonde. The application was easy to do. The bottle provided made the application clean as it didn’t drip and adhered to hair very well. I used it on my mom who has mostly grey hair and the coverage was really good. It left the hair shiny not the usual dull look you get from box hair dye. The scent is also mild not overwhelming. Effortless and chic

I used this on my south Asian client who has long coarse natural black hair, the application was clean and effortless due to the squeeze bottle provided. Red hair colour

I tried the L’Oréal Preference 5MB Medium Auburn hair color, and while it was an okay product overall, it didn’t quite deliver the results I was hoping for on my black hair. The color showed up more subtly than expected and didn’t provide the vibrant auburn tone I wanted. It might work better on lighter hair, but for darker shades like mine, it just didn’t pop enough. The formula was easy to apply and left my hair feeling soft, which was a plus, but the color payoff wasn’t strong. Not a bad product—just not the best choice for black hair.

Great colour

I tried this product for the first time and I love the results. It was easy to use, the smell wasn’t strong at all and it left my hair with a beautiful colour. It’s also really shiny and soft to the touch. I washed it a few times now and it still looks like it did the first time.

Too Ashy For My Liking

This is my first time trying a box hair dye. While I love the L’Oréal brand, this product is a no for me. The application was easy and the scent of the product was’t too strong but the colour is wayyyy too ashy for me. I also have thin hair and the colour did nothing to make it look fuller. I’m also concerned with thinning and breakage from using boxed dyes as well, even though my hair feels soft. It really did a nice job. Completely covered by grays, blended well and I liked the color a lot. I was in-between the light brown and darkest blonde. I went with the brown and glad I did. I do wish they had more colors available. My hairstylist saw it and thought it looked good. Maybe not as much dimension that they described but adequate. I would recommend.
