How to apply the hair colour?
- Do an allergy test 48 hours before using product.
- Apply the Protective Colour Cream and leave on for 25–45 minutes, depending on the desired result.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Apply the Caring Shampoo and rinse.

HOW TO APPLY

1. Take the allergy test 48 hours before colouring your hair. Dyeing your hair: Starting at the root, apply the mix to dry, unwashed hair. Wait and let it sit 20 minutes before applying to the lengths of your hair.
2. Dyeing your hair: Now apply the mix to the lengths on your dry, unwashed hair. Wait and let it sit for 10 minutes. Total application time should be 30 minutes between your roots (20) and your lengths (10).
3. Rinse everything dye off until hair clear of product.
4. Apply the Caring Shampoo located in the box and rinse. Apply Caring Deep Conditioner located in the box. Leave in for 3 minutes and then rinse.

First time using this product. I liked it! Easy to mix, easy to apply. I was worried I wouldn’t have enough with my long hair but there was plenty. I like the shampoo & conditioner included. Best of all, my hair looks great! Shiny, smooth, perfect coverage especially of my grey, and variations in how the color picked up makes it look very natural! I’ll continue to use this brand and color!

It left my hair so silky smooth and the black color came out completely black and went over my old hair dye. It doesn’t have an overwhelming chemical smell like some dye has. It doesn’t hurt or hurt my skin or scalp. I have sensitive skin and I had zero issues. It came with a little comb to help with coloring. A shampoo that you don’t get anywhere else. And a conditioner.

I was a little worried when it looked a little blue processing but it is indeed black. As you can see it covered my grey 💯. No damage, dryness or loss of shine. Easy to follow directions. The packaging is labeled to ensure no confusion while mixing. It doesn't have an overpowering smell when you are applying. It goes on easy and one box was plenty for my shoulder length hair. I had quite a few whites and greys near my temples and sprinkled throughout my hair, but it covered fabulously. It rinses out quickly. The conditioner provided left my hair silky, smooth, and so soft. It's definitely my go to brand when I need to cover my "age" lol

I gave this a 3 star because of the color. Everything else about the product would be a 5. My medium brown hair is almost all gray now and I've been frosting it with the Petite Frost kit in the lightest blonde shade loving the results but hating the process. I decided on Excellence due to the reviews. I didn't want a platinum blonde as I guess I already have that. I wanted a pale yellow shade not a golden or reddish shade. Not sure the color I chose but honestly I hate the color. It's a dark strawberry blonde which doesn't go with me at all. Now I'm not sure what color to choose to remedy this. I'm pretty sure I'll bite the bullet and color test it and if I don't like it toss snd buy a different one. I was hoping to not have to do the cap thing anymore.

Color doesn’t stay the same

I used to like this product a lot and the color would stay the same till the next dye. But, now after first wash the color just becomes lighter and lighter all the time. I want a product that keeps hair the same color. I will be changing to a different product.

I tried both preference and excellence hair color. This used to be a good product. Unfortunately, since you changed the way its made, they are both horrible! They fade after the first wash, and with my medium color, I went to a very light brown washed out color in 1 week! Terrible! The color no longer lasts.

There are pros and cons

A large tube of conditioner was included which is always a bonus. There was no strong smell to the dye which is always a plus. It's not drying. The cons, I don't feel that it dyed the stubborn gray hairs and as time has gone by my hair has turned lighter.

May buy another one just to bring out the color more. I have natural locs and I don’t put chemicals in my hair and this was my first attempt in along time trying out color. Not as brassy as pictured

I almost took a star off because the picture on the box was misleading. It was easy to apply with the comb-type attachment on the bottle. After approximately a month, the color hasn't faded and is still beautiful. I would use this again.

That’s the only reason I am giving you four stars instead of five, because I don’t know the actual results on my hair. But the consistency of the small amount I mixed up was good, the fragrance was very nice, it was very easy to understand the directions and the packaging was wonderful.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used Revlon hair dye before so I knew I would like it. My daughter asked if she could try it instead since she liked the color. It was easy to use. It was easy to rinse. She liked how hair felt after using the shampoo and conditioner. Her hair came out beautiful.

I am extremely dissatisfied and angry. My hair was light brown / medium blonde, and after using L’Oréal Excellence Crème 6.1 it turned nearly black. This is completely misleading and unacceptable. The color result does not match the shade shown on the box at all. Very disappointing from such a well-known brand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love love love the color that this gave me. It's a nice thick formula, so it wasn't derpy when I used it. The color stayed exactly where I put it. The conditioner that it came with left my hair feeling very soft. This also came with a toning shampoo which most at home coloring kits don't. This kit left my hair a shiny gorgeous blonde! 10/10 recommend. It was so easy to use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This hair color is easy to apply, the comb attachment makes it very easy to get to the roots and cover all hair. I had to get another box to completely cover all of my hair, but that is typical. There wasn't a very strong smell, and I liked that.

Used over 10years disappointed with formula change

I am actually super appalled and disappointed in the formula change why add such a bad cheap ingredient like HA to something that don’t need it??? I’ve been using this specific hair dye for over 10 years. Now I’m too scared to continue to use this after they changed the formula PLEASE REVERT BACK TO THE OLD FORMULA this is not good I don’t know who I will turn to now to buy to do my hair every month,,, please please please change it back or send me personally boxes that don’t have the new formula 😭😭😭
