How to apply matte lipstick correctly?

Step 1. Exfoliate your lips to remove any dead skin. To get a flawless matte lipstick look, prepping is key! This is especially important if you have dry of chapped lips, as matte lipstick tends to show texture in the lip.

Step 2. Apply a lip balm to moisturize your lips.

Step 3. Line your lip with a lip pencil in the same colour as your lipstick choice. This will give outer definition to your lip colour.

Step 4. Choose between a regular matte lipstick or a matte liquid lipstick. Matte liquid lipsticks tend to be drying, although they are more transfer proof and require much less maintenance. Regular lipsticks can be more hydrating.

Step 5. When applying a matte lipstick, begin at the center of your upper lip and swipe down to the outer corner. Repeat on the other side. Do the same on the bottom lip, being sure to not overpass the liner.

Step 6. Blot away any excess with a tissue and be sure the coverage is uniform. If need be, blend any gaps with your finger or more product.

How long does liquid lipstick last?

Generally, liquid lipsticks are made to last for hours, and be low maintenance alternative to regular lipstick. Of course, if you are eating and drinking, this will affect the wear time of liquid lipsticks. Wear-time also depends on formulation. The lack of emollients in the formula make them budge-proof, staying still longer. This will also make the liquid lipstick act as a stain, meaning even after hours of wear, the liquid lipstick pigment will remain on your lips. Matte liquid lipsticks are optimal for longest wear time. L’Oréal Paris’ matte liquid lipsticks can last for up to 24 hours. The Infallible Pro-Matte liquid lipstick comes in a wide range of colours while offering high impact colour and a matte finish throughout the whole day.
