Usage
How to dye hair :
48h before colouring do the allergy test.
Step 1: Mix. Pour entire contents of colour gel into developer bottle. Replace precision applicator cap.
Step 2: Shake. Unscrew the tip from the precision applicator cap. Placing finger over the tip, shake until mixture is completely blended.
Step 3: Choose your applicator tip: The precision tip or the soft brush tip.
Step 4: Apply where there are the most visible grays. Then color the hairline. Make sure to saturate your roots with color. Leave on for 10 minutes & rinse.

Beware of orange results

Disaster using number 8 color mixed 50/50 with number 9 on my 75% gray/white roots. Hair came out orange! I had previously used number 9 that had a nice pale color with no orange but wanted a darker color. I even mixed the developers 50/50 as well. The only thing that saved me- temporarily- was purple gloss and purple shampoo or I would be a carrot top head. I will have to permanently tone these redish roots now for correction.

Change in formula a mistake

I’ve purchased this for along time. The last few times it’s just been horrible. It’s so wet and it splatters all over the place!!! It was not this way. I’m not sure what they have changed but it’s a huge mistake. Last can.

Not one gray was dyed but my time and money was wasted, you shouldn't be allowed to make money off of selling a product that is absolutely useless, I use your hair dye loreal excellence and it works great but I will figure out another brand based off this experience

I used this product for the first time to stretch my colour - I was amazed how well it worked and blended. I will buy again. I used light brown on my roots and have blonde streaks. Next time I’ll use a blonder shade. Covered about 90% of my grey poking through. Amazing!!

Turned my hair orange

I used the medium brown and it turned my roots orange/brown. I followed the instructions and now need to get it fixed. Looks horrible. Will never use again.

Great Color Coverage BUT Spreads- TOO too drippy

I have used the 9 color several times and I do really like the coverage and how long it lasts however it is incredibly thin and liquidy what that means is after a few minutes of application it starts to drip down as in my intention of covering the roots of a half inch slides to full inch or more- since this is permanent, I’m sure that means it is going over my old hair that does not to be need to be recolored. I am aftaid of causing extra damage. The quantity in the container is small so it only covers my crown area. I had to get this three stars because I cannot use it knowing that it will color my already colored hair by spreading, which will cause a lot of damage if they could make the formula thicker so it would not drip like crazy that would help. I also put thick conditioner on the rest of my hair dry that is not colored so that it will not wash into my longer blond strands at rinse out. I am a dedicated at home Hair Colorist so I have used numerous formulas over the last 35 years. I don’t recall using one that spreads so quickly. over untreated hair.

Easy Application, Amazing Results

I am so impressed with this product. I have been tinting my hair for decades. More often than not, I have been disappointed with the results as my natural base is medium brown and I have tried to color it everything from red to blonde. I have finally decided to embrace my natural color and color my grays. This does amazing. To be honest, I have a short pixi, so the product comtains just enough product to color my hair. The results are shiny and natural looking. I use Medium Ash Brown and it provides a medium/dark brown result.

This product is so easy to use my husband did my touch up for me because we are currently traveling and I am away from my stylist! I have a lot of hair and there was enough product to easily do the coverage. It took him longer to apply so I probably had the product on for at least 30 min with no issue. He even picked out the shade at the drugstore:) He held up the sample shade on the box next to my hair.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought number 8 and used it following thebinstruction, but the color went away as soon as I rinse my hair even though on the instruction it said to rinse after 10 minutes the color went away, so I bought the product and did not benefit from it.

TOO DARK !

I bought a Medium Brown Root Touch-up kit since my hair was medium brown with some old highlights. Can you imagine my surprise when I washed my hair after coloring & my hair turned up BLACK with a little tint of chocolate brown ? I went through all other customer's reviews on this website & there is definitely something wrong with the color formulas coming from L'oreal : all the latest customers saying that their hair came out dark!

Bought the #7 since my hair is normally dark but have been dyed blonde. My darker roots were coming in, so I thought #7 would be more of a natural color for my roots. Boy was I wrong! Turned everything DARK brown, the same color as my natural roots! Guess I will be gking back to my hairdresser sooner than expected!

New darker shade formula for medium brown?

I have used this product with incredible results for over three years. My stylist marvels at the fact that the shade matches perfectly with the color that she is used before. However, after having used medium brown for two years, the recent box that I purchased is definitely a darker shade. I’m curious if L’Oreal changed the formula? I’m very nervous to use another box, I loved the way the original medium brown colored my roots, and now it is obviously darker! Sad

Disappointed customer

I have used L’Oréal 10 minute root coloring kit many times. This time, very disappointing. I use Dark Blonde (7), but when I mixed it together , it was almost black color. I used it anyway thinking it might be a new formula. Well, did not cover any of my gray! Very disappointing! Probably won’t buy again! I love the 10 minute feature, but not anymore for me!

PERFECT COLOR AND COVERAGE

Love love love! I have been using Root Rescue since the Covid shutdowns. Perfect for in between salon visits or if I don't want to pay salon prices. My hair fades really quick from the sun during summer months (avid boater) and this lasts longer than my all over salon color for a fraction of the price. I am a natural brunette and rotate between Medium and Dark Brown depending on season, however I just tried the Medium Ash Brown and absolutely love it. Not too dark, not too light and doesn't fade to orange/red as my color tends to do. I have fine, medium length hair (right above shoulder) and this covers my gray roots perfectly (scalp and crown area) with enough to pull through the ends.

washes out quickly

Was a change in this product? I've used root rescue in dark brown but the last two times I have used it, the color fades on my gray hairs within 3 washes. Given it's supposed to be permanent, I would not expect it to wash out. I've used this product many times before so i'm not sure why it's not holding anymore.

Good coverage but a bit too dark

I used the dark brown and found it very dark. Would love to know what 1 shade down would be.
Aside from this, I left the colour on an extra 10 minutes as I have very grey patches that sometimes do not cover well. The coverage of this colour worked well for me just found it very dark.

This product did not work at all! My roots are still gray! I normally use the Clairol root touch up kit but the store was out of my color and I thought I would try this. I followed the directions but it not cover the gray at all!! 😔So disappointed because I use L'oreal skin care and and makeup all of the time.

I was really excited to use this product. I have some resistant grays and thought this would do the trick after seeing it on YouTube. I used the number 5 medium brown, which is what I normally color my hair at the salon. However my hair at the root as well as at my temple look reddish blonde😩

If your hair is over 50% gray and you have been coloring for several years, the amount of gray you now have may have increased over time. If you find that you are not getting the same color results as in previous color applications, you may need to use one shade darker to compensate for the lack of pigment.

This is the only root touchup product I've ever used that does not fade! The smell is minimal also. So glad I discovered this! I have tried almost everything out there from hair color products to touch up sprays. This one actually covers in 10 minutes and makes my hair feel and look great.

The product did not work for me. I followed the instructions correctly and then once I dried my hair, most of the gray was still there. I don't have large areas of gray, just around my hairline. I was so disappointed because it was so easy to use. I don't know if I'll try it again. I used the hair color and that worked well but I didn't want to have to do my whole head this time.

First Time user / Disappointed

This was my first time using ROOT COVER up products. I chose LOREAL because it is a name I trust. However, I was extremely disappointed in this product. It made my hair sticky and did not cover the roots at all. I only really had a few to cover too. I would not purchase this particular product again. I used the DARK BROWN applicatio.
