The actress became famous for "Lost"

In January 2004, Evangeline obtained her first major role in Lost, an ABC series that went on to be a worldwide success. Created by J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof and Jeffrey Lieber, Lost won the 2006 Golden Globe Best drama series award and the Screen Actors Guild prize for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series. Evangeline Lilly was also nominated for the Best Actress in a Drama series Golden Globe award 2007 In 2008, she starred in Kathryn Bigelow's Oscar-winning film The Hurt Locker and in Gilles Bourdos' Afterwards with Romain Duris and John Malkovich.

Her film debut

Spotted by the Ford Model agency in the streets of Kelowna in Canada, Evangeline jetted off to Vancouver six months later to study International Relations at the University of British Columbia. After a few TV appearances, she decided to put her acting career to one side and concentrate on studying. Two years later, a friend encouraged her to return to acting. Shortly after, in 2004, she was cast as an extra in Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital series and also appeared in The Long Weekend, by Pat Holden in 2005.

At university, Evangeline founded and led a world development and human rights committee. She then went on a humanitarian expedition to the Philippine jungle during which she lived in a grass hut. Evangeline has taken part in humanitarian projects for children since she was 14.
