In 1993, when Laetitia was 15 and vacationing on a beach in Corsica, she was spotted by a talent scout from a prestigious top modeling agency. This was the starting point for an extraordinary rise though the fashion world: Laetitia swiftly inspired the world’s most celebrated designers and luxury brands.
With her natural charm, irresistible spontaneity, and remarkable joie de vivre, Laetitia handled her early fame and success so they had no adverse effects on her. And, voila!, a new star was born in the hearts of her French compatriots. Laetitia’s international career became such a source of pride that the French public voted to use her image as the model for the newly sculpted “Marianne,” the symbol and embodiment of the Republic.
Whether singing “Volare” on stage at the San Remo Music Festival in Italy, posing with the world-champion French soccer team, parachuting in front of assembled dignitaries at the Cannes Film Festival, or working as an ambassador for L’Oréal, Laetitia never ceases to enchant and surprise.
In 1998, the public discovered Laetitia in her first film, Astérix contre César (directed by Claude Zidi), in which she played Falbala opposite Gérard Depardieu. This was the start of a glittering new career as an actress.
In 1999, she starred in Thierry Binisti's La Bicyclette bleue, followed by Gitano (2000) by Manuel Palacios, as well as Les âmes fortes by Raoul Ruiz, Rue des plaisirs (2001) by Patrice Leconte, Errance (2003) by Damien Odoul, and La déraison du Louvre (2004) by Ange Leccia.
In 2006, director Pascal Thomas asked Laetitia to play Francesca in the film Le grand appartement, and in 2007 she appeared as Catherine in Nés en 68, a TV film by Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau.
Driven by instinct, professionalism, and passion, Laetitia Casta continues to extend the range of her talent. In 2004, she decided to take to the stage and asked Jacques Weber to direct her in Ondine at the Théâtre Saint Antoine. Jean Giroudoux’s play was an enormous success in Paris as well as a hit on its nationwide tour of France.
Laetitia appears in the soon-to-be-released La jeune fille et les loups by Gilles Legrand, alongside Michel Galabru, Jean-Paul Rouve, Laurent Deutch, and Stefano Accorsi.
Laetitia has been a part of the L’Oréal Paris dream team of spokespeople since 1998.
