Do not perm if

  • Hair has been bleached, per-lightened and tones.
  • Hair has been BOTH coloured and streaked.
  • Hair has been treated with metallic dyes or henna.
  • Hair has been chemically straightened or relaxed.
  • Scalp is tender or has open cuts, sores or abrasions.

 

How to preview your curl

If you are in any doubt about the condition of your hair and the result to be expected, we recommend you perform a preview curl. Select preview curl where the hair is most delicate or damaged; usually the crown of the head. Once you are satisfied with the results obtained on the preview curl, you may proceed with the full permanent application. During the full permanent roll it up out of the way on a regular curler – do not reapply the lotions on that curl.

 

Things to remember before you perm

  • Trim off any split or damaged ends.
  • When perming, use only plastic or non-metal utensils. Remove all jewelry, eye glasses and hair clips.
  • Wear plastic or rubber gloves when applying weaving lotion and neutralizer.
  • Avoid getting waving lotion on skin. If lotion accidentally drips on skin, blot – do not rub – with a towel dampened in cool water.
  • Keep lotion away from eyes. If lotion gets in eyes, rinse throughout with cool water. If irritation persists, get medical attention.
  • Avoid dripping lotion or neutralizer on clothing, rugs, furniture, floor. Discolorations will occur.
  • Discard any leftover lotion or neutralizer. Once opened, these become ineffective and cannot be re-used.
  • Keep all lotion, neutralizer, perming materials and equipment out of children’s reach.
