Why does hair become grey?

Why does hair become prematurely grey?

Hair’s natural colour is impacted by the quantity and the spread of melanin pigments within each hair. There are 2 types of melanin: Eumelanin pigments, dark red, browns and blacks, and phaeomelanin, yellows and reds.
These pigments are produced by cells situated in the hair’s follicle: the melanocytes. Over the years, these follicles produce less and less melanin: the hair grows out grey.

The age at which the first grey hairs appear is largely hereditary. But grey hair does not have to be a fatal problem: Click here to discover your choices of haircolour.
