Learn how to keep your colour looking fresh
Freshen Your Roots
Hair grows about one-half inch per month, so roots will become visible four to six weeks after you’ve coloured your hair. Touching up your roots to keep the colour looking brand new is quick and easy.
By continuing with the exact L’Oréal Paris shade that you used previously, you can ensure a flawless root touch-up. Always remember to do a skin allergy test 48 hours before colouring. After you’ve put on your gloves and mixed the developer with the colourant, you’re ready to go. Using a comb or the tip of the applicator bottle, make a part in your unwashed hair. Apply the mixture to your new growth only. Continue to apply the colour mixture until all of your roots are covered. Leave the colour on for the specific time as directed by the instructions.
Brighten Your Highlights
When your highlights start growing out, you can easily keep them looking fresh by touching up the roots. Remember that if you highlight over existing highlights, they will get even brighter and will become overprocessed and possibly damaged. To make sure highlights are even from the root to the tip, apply mixture generously to the uncoloured root and apply sparingly on the rest of the strand. Also keep in mind that while many highlight colours may seem the same, the best way to achieve a perfect, even match is to reapply with your L’Oréal Paris colour of choice.
Protect Your Locks from the Elements
It’s helpful to use hair products that contain UV filters, like the Vive Pro Colour Vive System. Similar to how a sunscreen helps protect your skin, UV filters in hair products will help protect your colour from fading or turning brassy because of the sun. In addition, try covering your hair as often as possible when outdoors, using hats or scarves.
